DIXIE NOW OFFERS HUNTS FOR SALE
Under the recommendations of the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Division and Tall Timbers Research program, Dixie Plantation operates a game management program. Deer, turkey, and dove are overly abundant in this area and to maintain a healthy balance of wildlife a percentage of the population of each species needs to be harvested yearly. A program of fee hunts is being offered to accomplish this goal.

It may be possible for the hunters to be lodged in the Dixie Plantation mansion. Until then, office staff will be happy to help reserve lodging in the surrounding area.
A limited number of deer hunts are available for the 2007 - 2008 season. In Florida this season for guns runs from November 10, 2007 through January 20, 2008.
Guests pay $1000 for 2-day hunt. Each guest may kill one trophy buck (at a cost of $75 per point) and two does. Transportation to and from the hunting locations will be provided. For a nominal charge plantation staff will dress out and hang your kill.
2008 Spring turkey season is from March 22 through May 15. Shooting hours on private land are from ½ hour before sunrise to sunset. Only ten fee hunts are scheduled for this year. Guests pay $400 for l-day hunt. One gobbler pay be taken per hunt.
Dove Hunts: Dove hunts to be scheduled on a day-by-day basis by the superintendent based on available birds scouted on a given day. Guests pay $100 per hunt.
